Galvanized pipes are considered one of the strongest pipe types. In most cases, such pipes have threads at each end. Therefore, most of these galvanized pipes will be screwed together by torsional movement. What if connect to some non-thread galvanzed pipes? When connecting unthreaded galvanized pipes together, use a coupling that creates a sealed joint. Meanwhile, it is important to know the coupling type and installation procedure for galvanized pipes to ensure that the pipes are leak free. Below are some method to realize the non-threaded steel pipes joined.
Methods Of Non-Threaded Galvanized Pipes Connection
Inspecting the two pipes need to be jointed first. And both of pipes diameters and roughness of pipe’s surface would tell you how to connect them well.
If the surface of non threaded pipe is rough, Obviously, coupling with rough surface is required. When the edge of galvanized pipe is rough, grind it clean. You need to ensure that they slide relatively easily, which cannot be achieved with rough edged pipes. And then try to wipe the non-threaded pipe with towel, and degreaser to ensure that the pipe is clean.
Standard pipe coupling can be used for pipes with smooth surface. In order for the pipe to fit correctly in the coupling, you have to make sure that the galvanized pipe is flush with the wall of the coupling. If above-mentioned operation well done, then let us move to the next method.
If the diameters match, select standard couplings. In the other hands, if the diameters are different, select a stepped coupling.
Align the carpenter’s level with the end of the unthreaded pipe to check whether the pipe end is square. If the ends are not even, cut the ends with a hacksaw or electric saw to make each pipe square. And then remove the rough edges of the pipe ends with a metal sander.
Mark the depth of each coupling with a ruler and pencil to meet in the middle. Insert one of the two pipes. Align the pipe with the mark on the pipe. Then, insert the second tube into the connector. Insert them again to the necessary depth. Pick up the screwdriver and tighten the bolts until they firmly hold the pipe in place.
To connect unthreaded galvanized piping, you will need to use a coupling to place the two pipes together. Once you have selected the correct coupling, you will need to use fastening bolts and a torque wrench to keep the two pipes coupled. To ensure that you get the best results, double-check the type of coupling you use.

Easy Way To Clean Steel Galvanized Pipes
Galvanized pipes are commonly used in piping applications where metals are often exposed to moisture. So properly cleaning the steel galvanized pipes will extend the life of the zinc oxide coating. Galvanizing of steel pipe is treated with special zinc oxide coating to prevent oxidation and limit damage to pipes caused by other corrosive elements. So next is the related ways to realize clean of steel gavalnized pipe.
Firstly, Place 1 gallon of hot water, 1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid and 1 cup of vinegar in a bucket.
Secondly, Immerse the soft brush in the soap solution and scrub the pipe with a small round vortex.
Thirdly, Flush the pipe with warm water and dry it.
Finally, Use a lint free rag for metal polishing in a small circular rotation. Also, allow the metal polish to dry and wipe clean.
