2. Features and applications of malleable cast iron
2.1 Malleable iron features
White cast iron has terrible cutting performance. As a result of the graphite in malleable cast iron being in the form of flocs, it has a modest splitting impact on the matrix, but following high-temperature tempering, the material gains greater strength and plasticity and can be cut. When compared to grey cast iron, its plasticity and durability are noticeable improvements. However, cast iron, despite its malleability, cannot be forged. Each type of malleable cast iron has a unique matrix structure and set of properties. Black-core malleable cast iron has greater flexibility and toughness, while pearlite malleable cast iron has greater strength, hardness, and wear resistance.
Fabrication and other applications of malleable iron
